GOD GATHERS HIS PEOPLE
Call to Worship - 1 Peter 1
Song - O Savior, Precious Savior
O Savior precious Savior whom yet unseen we love
O Name of might and favor all other names above
We worship you we bless you to you alone we sing
We praise you and confess you our holy Lord and King.

O bringer of salvation who wondrously have wrought
Yourself the revelation of love beyond our thought
We worship you we bless you to you alone we sing
We praise you and confess you our gracious Lord and King.

In you all fullness dwelling all grace and pow’r outpours
The glory all-excelling O Son of God is yours
We worship you we bless you to you alone we sing
We praise you and confess you our glorious Lord and King.

O grant the consummation of this our song above
In endless adoration and everlasting love
Then shall we praise and bless you where perfect praises ring
And evermore confess you our Savior and our King.

WE COME TO GOD BY FAITH
Invocation
Pastor:  Let us call on the name of the Lord
All:  To you I call, O Lord my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me.  For if you remain silent, I will be like those who have gone down to the pit.  Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place. -Psalm 28:1-2

Prayer of Adoration

Salutation - 2 Corinthians 4:11
God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, shine in your hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, in the face of Jesus Christ.

Confession of Faith - The Apostles' Creed

Pastor: People of God, what do you believe?
People: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.  The third day he rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen!

Heidelberg Catechism - Questions 50, 51 & 21
Pastor:  Why the next words:“and is seated at the right hand of God”?
People:  Because Christ ascended to heaven to show there that he is head of his church, the one through whom the Father rules all things.
Pastor:  How does this glory of Christ our head benefit us?
People:  First, through his Holy Spirit he pours out gifts from heaven upon us his members. Second, by his power he defends us and keeps us safe from all enemies.
Pastor:  What comfort does the return of Christ “to judge the living and the dead” give you?
People:  That in all affliction and persecution I may await with head held high the very Judge from heaven who has already submitted himself to the judgment of God for me and has removed all the curse from me; that he will cast all his enemies and mine into everlasting condemnation, but he shall take me, together with all his elect, to himself into heavenly joy and glory.

Song - Gloria Patri #734

GOD RESHAPES THE HEARTS AND LIVES OF HIS PEOPLE
Call to Confess our Sin
Corporate Confession of Sin
O Father, if your mercy had limits, we would have no refuge from your just wrath, but in Christ your love to us is without measure.  Therefore, we confess our transgressions and failures.  We renew our repentance this very morning and plead the finished work of Jesus, which needs no addition of our doings.  Have pity on us and cause us to be more resolute, attentive and prayerful.  Keep us from evil, hardness of heart and pride.  Let us not cause others to stumble, but may we reflect the loveliness of Christ.  Amen!
