Accelerated Reading Program

Valley Presbyterian School uses the Accelerated Reading Program by Advantage Learning Systems. Accelerated Reading Test Report and book list and the addendum. Please see your child's teacher for a complete list of available books. Not all titles on these lists are available in the library

  1. THE STUDENT READS A BOOK. Students choose their own books and read them at their own pace. Many titles are on the Accelerated Reader® title list; most of which are already in the collections of most school and public libraries.
  2. THE STUDENT TAKES A QUIZ. Students then take a short, objective quiz on the computer. The quiz results provide immediate feedback to the student and assures the teacher that the student has read and understood the book.
  3. THE TEACHER GETS A REPORT. Both the student and teacher receive reports on the student's reading progress. Reading points, based on the book's length, reading level, and number of correct answers, provides a precise quantitative measure of reading practice.
